The General Manager will plan, manage and implement the policies and strategy of the business as approved by the Board of Directors so as to optimise shareholder returns on a sustainable basis. He will provide a service to internal and external Agribusiness clients and will liaise with relevant national and foreign private entities, growers’ associations and research institutions where relevant. The job provides close strategic support to the Executive Manager as well as a supporting role for the Operations Managers in his field of expertise.
Degree in the Agriculture Sciences
At least 5 years’ experience in an operational environment, preferably agriculture
Technically competent to manage an export subtropical fruit business
Detailed knowledge of external accreditation requirements for export to the EU
Financial planning and control
Knowledge of the legal framework for farming operations in South Africa
High level computer literacy
Good people management skills across all levels of the business

Supply Chain Executive
Food Ingredients/Raw Materials
Develop a vision for and manage an effective Supply Chain.
Maximise the value of the investment in the Supply Chain in terms of ROFE.
Recommend improvements to issues such as ageing stock and redundant raw materials and finished products.
Exploit manufacturing economies of scale in order to optimize manufacturing overhead recoveries.
Provide world class manufacturing processes through the use of the best technology available.
Effective financial management and expenses versus budgets.
Identify and exploit efficiencies throughout the Supply Chain through line managers responsible for raw material
procurement, manufacturing, distribution and logistics.
Analyse information – manage lead and guide subordinates towards predetermined objectives.
Through the Food Safety Executive carry the responsibility and accountability for Food Safety throughout the Supply Chain.
Build relationships with local and international suppliers in order to ensure consistent quality and that pricing
objectives are met in order to meet market requirements.
Tertiary Qualification in Food Science and Technology or a Business Degree or equivalent qualification
Min 8 years exp in Supply Chain Management
Exceptional manufacturing and supply chain knowledge
Have a full understanding of the various channels in the Supply Chain
Ability to build good relationships with external suppliers and internal customers (business unit)
Ability to interpret financial information with support from the Financial Manager in order to run a successful operation.
